This trade is regarded as one of the mainstays for life with shifting cultivation. From daily personal effects to production tools, all kinds of tools are made by the Mong people for their own use. The Mong have gradually built up a perfected technique for forging necessary agricultural equipment. Many steps of which have turned into a high technique which has been being preserved in the Mong community as know-how of their traditional craft. The skills, technique, and technical knowledge for this traditional craft of the Mong have become part of the intangible culture of this ethnic group.
